CPR on woman. A Grimsby woman has suffered a head injury after she bashed her head on a toilet in the Riverhead Bus Station.

Michelle Ward, of Winslow Grove, had been out shopping with her husband and two children, when she went to use the public toilet in the bus station at the Riverhead. Whilst doing so she fell off an unstable toilet seat, banging her head on the toilet.

She was found slipping in and out of consciousness by security guard Lee Cooper, who quickly rang the emergency services. During the phone call he had to perform CPR on the woman, after she passed out and he was unable to find a pulse.

Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene, where they reassured the Ward family and further stabilised Michelle before deeming her safe enough to go home.

Michelle wanted to thank everyone that came to her aid, despite her memory being a bit fuzzy after the incident.

She said: “I am feeling kind of alright now, but I have a banging headache and my neck is very sore.

“I really don’t remember much after it happened, I just remember sitting down on the toilet seat, which was very wobbly, and then as I began to try and stop myself falling I further slipped on the wet floor and banged my head on the toilet seat.

“After that I just remember waking up surrounded by paramedics and my husband and children.CPR Augusta

“I really think the council needs to do more with its maintenance in the bus station, both of the toilet seats there were very loose, and this could have happened to anyone, and while I was leaving I noticed the drink can propping up the heater and that it was very cold inside, which would not have helped the floor dry.

The Irn-Bru can used to prop up the only working heater in the bus station.

“I would also like to thank the kind lady who gave my two children a little treat at Christmas while they were with me, it was a truly wonderful thing to do.

“Lastly I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas.”

Security Guard Lee Cooper described the events that took place today saying: “All of a sudden I just heard this cry for help in the toilet and then a woman screaming, so I ran into the toilet and found someone drifting in and out of consciousness on the floor.

“I quickly checked her for any injuries or bleeding, then took her out of the toilet, and as I was on the phone with the paramedics she passed out again and I was unable to find a pulse, so I was advised to perform CPR.

“She quickly came round after this and the paramedics arrived shortly afterwards and took over.
