Is First Aid & CPR training the same?

First aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training are not exactly the same, although they are often taught together in courses.

First aid training typically covers a broader range of emergency situations and includes topics such as wound care, choking, allergic reactions, seizures, and heat stroke. The focus is on providing immediate care to stabilize the person’s condition until emergency medical services arrive.

CPR training, on the other hand, focuses specifically on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which is the technique used to help someone who is experiencing cardiac arrest or has stopped breathing. It involves chest compressions to help circulate blood to vital organs and rescue breaths to provide oxygen to the lungs.

While first aid training may include CPR instruction, CPR training does not necessarily cover all aspects of first aid. It is important to receive training in both first aid and CPR to be prepared for a wide range of emergency situations.
