“The American Heart Association certification for healthcare providers is titled, “BLSfor Healthcare Providers”. Our equivalent certification is “ProCPR.” The American Red Cross equivalent certification is called “CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers.
Basic Life Support training and certification is commonly required of Health Care professionals and other working professionals whose jobs or volunteer positions place them at risk for needing to provide CPR to a co-worker or visitor. Read more about who needs BLS certification.
“AED” stands for automated external defibrillator and there is a big difference between CPR and AED training even though both are usually covered in the sameclass. Unlike CPR which only pumps blood to vital organs, the AED is the machine that can restart the heart.
